This room can hold up to 7 children, age 2-3 years.
Our Happy Hippos room is welcoming and stimulating to support children's growing independence and curiosity. Resources are stored on low-level so children can easily access and choose toys and activities for themselves, encouraging them to make decisions and develop confidence.
The room includes clearly defined areas, such as a role-play corner, construction area, cosy/book corner, creative table, small-world play, and sensory activities. These spaces encourage children to explore a range of experiences at their own pace while developing their imagination, problem-solving, and fine motor skills.
Small group play is encouraged through activities such as story time, singing, puzzles, building with blocks, and creative experiences. These activities help children learn to share, take turns, communicate with others, and develop friendships. Practitioners support interactions by modelling language, encouraging conversations, and helping children express their thoughts and feelings.
Exploration is encouraged through a variety of open-ended resources, natural materials, sensory play, and access to outdoor learning. Children are given opportunities to investigate, experiment, and discover through play, helping them develop curiosity, resilience, and love for play based learning.
